Eggs, Oranges and Injuries

Well, according to my neighbours, on Friday night around 1am, my house was ambushed by 5 lads wrecking havoc......they egged my house as well as used some oranges to smash up a leadlight windows and several of my louvres out the front. On Saturday it took me a number of hours to clean up the glass, orange juice and egg remains from the high gables, eaves, floor etc. I wasn't a happy camper. My neighbour's front door was egged as well as one up the street....my house appears to have borne the brunt of the 'attack'..

I also managed to do my first major renovation injury on Saturday (I haven't counted the minor ones to date, such as splinters, bruises etc).

In the midst of the post-vandalism clean up, I attempted to put a big bit of trunk of the jade tree (the one cut down) into my wheelie bin (the trunk was ~25cm diameter and was damn heavy). Anyway, the bin tipped over and I automatically put my hand out to try and steady it, but ended up having the bin + tree trunk squash my hand on the ground. This bruised my knuckles (metatarsal heads, especially the 3rd one) and gave me a nasty gash across my 3rd knuckle as well as split the skin between my 3rd and 4th fingers. To be honest, I should have braved the hospital to get 3 stitches in the main gash as it is over a joint so keeps re-opening and so will be difficult to heal.......but, as I am a complete nutbag about getting the local anaesthetic injection before the stitches, I'm doing a pretty good home-doctor job with betadine, steri-strips and opsite dressings. It's holding together well but my hand is bruised and sore......at least some of the swelling is going down now!

This injuy happened in the midst of my clean-up of the egg etc splatter....so I haven't finished this job yet (just one inside wall to go). It's really the possums fault! I picked up the oranges (used as projectiles) and took them to the back of my block for the possums to eat that night....I decided to load the trunk in the bin before heading up the ladder to keep on cleaning....and voila, injury time!

that was my adventurous weekend :o)

I'm having a day off work tomorrow to take mum to the Brisbane Ekka which should be fun, followed by going over a lighting plan with my electrician, Gary, and then doing a hospital visit to my clayton's' dad, Uncle Jeff, from Murgon (in South Burnett countryside). He is having an angiogram (at a minimum) and maybe a stent put into one of his coronary arteries. Think that will be my day gone!
